Your preferences are stored locally in your browser. You can enable cross-device sync below, which stores your settings in your Atmosphere account.
Appearance
How the site looks and whether it makes any noise.
Light or dark. Takes effect as you pick it.
Taps, detents, and the flush itself. Off unless you turn it on; nobody asked a website to make noise.
Flush emoji
The palette the composer offers when you post a flush.
On, the picker opens on a random emoji. Off, it always opens on 🚽.
Reaction emoji
What you can react with on somebody else's flush. A separate list from the one above, so pruning your own composer leaves your reactions alone.
Applies to the dial on a phone, and only before you have reacted. Once you have, it opens on your own reaction, so pressing again takes it back.
An emoji you switch off still shows on a flush that already has it, and on your own reaction. Without those two exceptions the tally would count reactions that have no button under them, and one of your own could be left with no button to press to take it back.
Swipe
Dragging a row in the feed sideways reacts to it. Left and right leave different emoji; these are the two.

Synced settings are stored as an im.flushing.preferences record in your Atmosphere account. Anyone can read it, the way anyone can read your flushes, so it holds what is on this page and nothing more.
